In a city that changes as quickly as Las Vegas, it's comforting to know that some traditions endure. Since 1959, the Tropicana Resort has presented the 'Folies Bergere,' one of the first showgirl spectaculars on the Strip and now the longest-running stage show in the United States. The production has been updated through the years, but never as profoundly as in the current version.

For inspiration, director and choreographer Jerry Jackson looked no further than the resort's shimmering marquee. Audiences in this production are transported back to the Club Tropicana, a sparkling nightclub in Cuba circa 1940, for a high-spirited Latin song-and-dance number. The mambo detour is a departure from the show's customary theme, a journey tracing the evolution of women from the 1850s into present day. Thankfully, many of the highlights, including the popular can-can number, have been retained, with updated lighting, costumes and choreography. -- David Hofstede
