Chapel Hill and Carrboro residents head to Anderson Community Park (formerly Carrboro Community Park) for a breath of fresh air. Here, 55 sprawling acres include lighted baseball and softball fields, lighted basketball courts, two tennis courts, horseshoe pits and a fishing pond. Get back to nature with two trails around the pond, picnic tables and grills. The best feature, however, is its fenced-in, leashes-not-required dog park, where Rovers romp while their owners congregate to talk. While all dogs are welcome, they must be at least six months old and be current on all shots. Dogless? Enjoy a stroll around the pond (complete with fountain), bring along your racket for some tennis or watch your kids at the playground.
